DiA Prize for Commercial Potential
Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee Winner: Eilidh Price
Eilidh Price (22), a BA Product Design graduate from Glasgow, is this year’s DJCAD DiA Prize for Commercial Potential Winner which is sponsored by Creative Scotland.
Eilidh has designed ‘Glow’, a device that protects diabetic children from the danger of nocturnal ‘hypos’ by continually monitoring their blood sugar level.
Having lived with diabetes herself since she was a young child, Eilidh used her experiences to refine ‘Glow’ as a tool that uses existing technology to monitor blood sugar levels and wakes both child and parent if they drop during the night.
On receipt of her prize, worth £500, Eilidh said ‘I feel so privileged, there were so many great entries! It’s really amazing to hear from others that your idea could have potential and be provided with the opportunity to take it to the next level.
