Karl Monsen is undertaking collaborative software design in the healthcare sector as part of an AHRC Design in Action funded PhD at Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. His research involves creating and evaluating smartphone and tablet apps for use by doctors and nurses in transfusion medicine. In the past his research has explored computer interventions for children with autism and geolocative mobile applications for community heritage.
Karl enjoys teaching and has developed college courses spanning digital photography, computer graphics, social media, web design and mobile app development. Karl holds a first class BSc in Information Technology, MSc degrees from the University of Edinburgh in Informatics and in Science and Technology Studies, and a MBA in Entrepreneurship from Queen Margaret University.
